Leading brake friction brand LUMAG has announced a new sponsorship deal with Alex Eades, a hot young talent widely anticipated to take the karting world by storm.
The 14-year-old racing prodigy has already made serious headway in the sport, with several club championships wins under his belt as well as becoming vice champion in the 2014 English Super Prix. In 2016, he took fourth place in the Honda Cadet Superone British Championship, where 64 drivers competed for the coveted trophy.
With significant interest accumulating and a growing amount of exposure in the press, television and YouTube, he has been repeatedly approached for engine and kart testing, as a result gaining respect in the karting community and further afield.
His goal of progressing to Mini Max Karting this year is firmly on track, thanks to already taking two tenths off the race time of an experienced driver during practice. Sponsorship will ensure Alex cements his place in British Karting’s top team, who have already approached him to join their ranks, helping him to realise his ambition and providing him with the ideal platform to race in Europe.
Lumag’s UK Managing Director Colin Smit commented: “Sponsoring and supporting Alex is a win-win situation as far as Lumag is concerned. His talent for the sport is evident, even at this early stage. For us to support him at the start of what promises to be a flourishing career allows a great opportunity for a good return on our investment, particularly with the amount of exposure he gets and will no doubt increasingly command.”
This is the latest development in Lumag’s wider involvement in racing, having recently launched a new line of ceramic brake pads designed for premium-class cars and rally cars under its BRECK brand. The BRECK HIGH SAFETY LINE, made of a new high-quality friction material mixture, comes as a result of the company’s continuous commitment to R&D investment and months of track testing alongside the experience of Polish ex-rally champion Krzysztof Hołowczyc, gained during hundreds of completed rallies.
Colin continues: “Our aim is to increase our commitment to racing over the next few years and use the platform to underline the pedigree of the BRECK brand as a high quality premium brake pad product.”

With a history spanning almost 30 years, LUMAG was founded in Poland in 1988 by CEO Marek Żak, initially focusing on the production of brake linings before later implementing its own brake pad manufacturing technology. Over the years the company has achieved enormous technological progress, through applied engineering solutions as well as the continuous rise of quality and safety standards.
Since September 2013 it has been operating out of a purpose built new production facility located 60km from Poznań in the town of Budzyń, covering an area of approx. 19,000 square metres, allowing the company to satisfy ever-growing customer needs and to meet strict demands of the OEM market.
The factory features an automated mixing facility, designed and custom-built for the manufacture of friction materials, coupled with high-capacity processing lines. The investment has multiplied its previous production capacity and allowed it to increase its headcount by around 10%.
The company’s mission is to supply car and commercial vehicle users with high-quality products ensuring safe braking, and in doing so, improving the safety of all road users.
LUMAG’s UK operations are based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
